David Berman Resigns From Board

Breaking News, 25 July 2006

I regret to announce that this morning (July 25) I submitted my resignation as a Director of the Sun City Anthem Community Association, Inc.

This was an extremely difficult decision for me, as I have committed heart and soul to the betterment of our community since arriving here six years ago. But I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that I cannot function effectively in a governance environment in which the actions and decisions are taken by individual fiat rather than through a process of free and open sharing of ideas.

It is my considered opinion that the path this Board is taking is one in which open communication with residents is discouraged and frowned upon, rather than being encouraged. It is an environment designed to smother and even prevent disagreement, and to treat our homeowners in a patronizing and disdainful manner.

I extend my deep apologies to those who supported me in my 2005 election and who have given me so much encouragement. I hope you will not think ill of me for making this decision, and I do promise not to melt away into oblivion, but rather to redouble my efforts to be a premier source of current news, information and opinion about our community.

I will have much more to say in the days, weeks and months ahead, and I greatly look forward to working with many of you as we continue to stand for making Sun City Anthem such a wonderful place to live.

Sincerely

David Berman

Commentary: I was shocked and greatly disappointed to learn about David's resignation from the Board as I viewed his presence on the Board as a necessary and salutary ingredient for the well being of the community. Perhaps more than anyone else, David always took the time and made an effort to explain what was happening so that members were not left in the dark on matters affecting the community. We will all miss his learned and detailed explanations, his generosity and his eagerness to help others. Do not despair though as he tells us that we will continue to have his heart and soul working along side of others for the betterment of the community. RLJ
