Forum Registration Process Illustrated
Here is a Step-by-Step ILLUSTATION of the SCA Forum Registration Process. It's similar to the process that was used for the OP-ED Column feature.
NOTE: You cannot REGISTER using this page. This page merely illustrates the process. In order to REGISTER, you must be on the main "Welcome . . ." page and Click on "Register," or on one of the topical Forum pages that accepts member comments, as illustrated in the steps outlined below.
On the Today's Anthem View page, you must Click on the "SCA Forum" image to reach the "Register" or "Sign Up" Link to post comments on any of the Forum topics.
1. The First page you will encounter will be the Forum Home page, with a heading titled, Welcome to the SCA View Forum.
The Forum Home page will list a number of Forum topics, as illustrated below. There are currently 9 topical forums. In order to comment on any given topic, you must first register. That opportunity is provided in the right hand corner of the "Welcome . . ." heading. Please Click on "Register."
On several of the forum pages, you may notice an active Link, "Start Topic" towards the top of the page. DO NOT CLICK ON THE "START TOPIC" Link. If you would like a NEW topic listed, please let me know of your interest via email to: rljohnson32@cox.net.
2. For example, assume you selected the "Tirzo's Bistro" Forum. Shown below is what you would see for the Tirzo's Bistro forum. Here you can post your comments after Clicking on the "Sign in" Link, which is just below the heading "Add a Reply" located on the bottom left of the page.
3. Sign in to Comment. When you Click on the "Sign in" Link in the phrase "Sign in to comment," the "Add a Reply" feature will be activitated if you are already a registered user. As shown below, the Reply box will be displayed and you will have the option to "Preview" what you wrote and to "Submit" your comments.
4. When you are finished with the Tirzo's Bistro forum, you have two options: 1) you can Click on the "Sign out" Link in the upper right hand corner of the "Welcome . . ." message, or 2) you can Click on the "Home" Link on the menu bar. That Link is located on the left side of the page just above the Tirzo's Bistro forum. Clicking on the "Home" Link will take you back to the "Home" page where all forum topics are listed. You can see the "Home" Link on the blue menu bar in the illustration above.
DO NOT CLICK ON THE "START TOPIC" Link.
5. Not yet registered. If you are not registered, merely Click on the "Sign in" Link in the phrase "Sign in to Comment." A new user will be directed to a User Profile Form to create an account.
6. User Profile Form. A blank “Create an account” form will appear. Complete the form (illustrated below) for all items where there is an asterisk “*”.
Please leave the last line for the “Website URL” blank.
After the form is completed, Click on “Sign up.”
The "Username" is the name you use to enter the program to make a Comment. The "Display Name" is the name you would like to appear on the page after you have posted your Comment. AT LEAST ONE OF THESE NAMES MUST BE YOUR REAL NAME, LIKE "Ron Johnson."
Special note: Users submitting Comments from anonymous sites using, for example, a mailinator.com email address, will be treated as SPAM, the Comments will be deleted and the user will be banned from future postings.
Make a note of your username and password and keep it in a place that is easily accessible, better yet, merely adhere the note to the front of your computer.
Below is a copy of the User Profile form.
7. Authentication Process. A “Profile Created" notice will appear. Below is an illustration of how that notice will look in the case of User Olga Johnson. This notice alerts you to the fact that the registration process is NOT yet completed.
In order to register, you must confirm your account.This notice advises you that an email has been to the email address you provided in the previous Sign up form.
It provides you with important information on how to complete the registration process. To confirm and activate your account, the email sent to the address you provided will contain a return Link. By Clicking on that return Link, your membership as a User will be activate.
Permission to post comments will be granted only after you have completed this authentication process. Click on “Return to the original page.”
8. Account Confirmation. You will receive an email from the SCA View Forum thanking you for registering for an account. The next and final step in the registration process is to Click on the return Link contained in the email. Doing so will send the needed notification to our forum program. That email will look similar to the one reproduced below.
