WARNING CONCERNING COX INTERNET EMAIL PHISHING SCHEME
Cox High Speed Internet customers have been targeted as potential victims of a phishing scheme.
There are several versions of an email claiming to be from Cox, asking customers to provide account information.
Cox Communications has not and will not send an email asking users to verify any account information.
In many cases, customers are targeted for phishing in the following way:
Information is requested due to a bogus system failure or other such "claim."
This request usually includes:
Your Name (current or maiden)
Your Primary or Secondary email address
Your account password
Other personal or account information
Note: Do Not provide this information under any circumstances!
You can report these abuse issues to Cox by sending a copy of the email to abuse@cox.net . You can also notify the authorities by reporting the incident to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov , or calling them at 1-877-IDTHEFT.
