On the inside of the door of the electrical panel in the garage, there is bright yellow "CAUTION" sticker, alerting electricians to the fact that the building has nonmetalic (i.e., plastic) water piping and may not be used for grounding purposes.

There are two types of stickers to look for. One sticker says "KITEC" while the other sticker says "PlumbBetter." "KITEC" or "PlumbBetter" designations are located at the bottom of the CAUTION sticker. A close-up of each of these yellow "CAUTION" stickers is in Photos 2 and 3, below.

If you have one of these "KITEC" or "PlumbBetter" CAUTION stickers on the panel door, you are living in a Phase 1 home.

However, there is an exception. If you are living in a Phase 1 home and do NOT have one of these "KITEC" or "PlumbBetter" CAUTION stickers on the panel door, your home was most likely NOT plumbed using Kitec fittings. As a result, your sticker will NOT read "KITEC" or "PlumbBetter" at the bottom of the CAUTION sticker. The sticker may say nothing at all or may identify a vendor other than KITEC, such as WIRSBO (see image below).

For a listing of the names of Phase 1 model homes and Phase 2 model homes, see below.
