Oh beautiful, for lush landscaping

Drive down most any street in Sun City, especially in the older sections, and we are taken aback, delighted, even warmed by the sight of lush greenery, the extensive variety of trees, bushes, shrubbery and flowers rushing in to fill our tired eyes. With so much landscaping beauty to appreciate, it's difficult, some might suggest heretical, to question whether we have done enough to beautify our streets.

As it turns out, some residents have a special, even unique opportunity to do even more to help in beautifying our streets and community. Actually, these residents are all over Sun City, just around the block, up or down the street from you, maybe even on your street or at the corner. In fact, you may be one of these more fortunate residents. Yes, even you may be able to take advantage of this landscaping opportunity.

How can we identify these budding landscaping opportunities? That's not too hard. As we drive around, each of us can readily identify all sorts of beautification opportunities. Here is a good example of what I'm referring to.

But realistically, you might protest, there's not much one can do or accomplish with those empty, some might say, unsightly patches of rock. But for those homeowners who have this unique opportunity to beautify their side lot patches of rock, there are landscaping options to consider.

In the couple of blocks around our home, for example, we found four neighbors who made a special landscaping effort to beautify their own lots and Sun City's streets in the process. I'm sure some of you or your neighbors have done likewise. Here, pictured below, are four such examples. In the last picture, take note the extensive variety of trees and bushes along their quite small strip of side yard space beyond their wrought iron fence. As stunning and impressive as this last picture is, even a little extra effort can make a real contribution to beautifying your home as well as our streets

We hope this may give some encouragement to those of you who have this unique opportunity to make Sun City even more beautiful than it already is.
