Re-Roof Flat Patio Slide Show

Shown below is the re-roofing process recently performed by Willis Roofing, with all expenses paid by the Developer for Phase 1 homeowners. Three crew members worked about 6 hours to complete the project.

First, the roofing tiles are lifted back several feet to allow for the removal of the old roofing material that goes up under the tiled portion of the roof. Next the old roof is removed down to the plywood foundation. Then, the surface along the leading edge closest to the back yard is raised about an inch to push water away from the edge and to allow for the addition of those crickets, flat roof drain diverters. Crickets, which were missing in the original roof design on Phase 1 homes, help to prevent water damage by diverting accumulating rain water to the drain holes. Then some type of synthetic rubber or thermoplastic black membrane is applied, which acts to waterproof and seal the roof from leaks. Finally, a top layer roll is applied, consisting of a self-adhesive membrane with a mat for directional stability and a granule top surface.
