A CHRISTMAS POEM

Inspiration Point

By Rene Pineda

Each Christmas, for over 35 years, Rene Pineda expressed his gratitude to Ted Revak for the kindness and consideration he had demonstrated by sending him a poem that he composed.  This past Christmas was no different, although we learn that Rene seldom writes poetry anymore.  Rene has returned to his career in music, playing at Powwows with a Native American Flutist who taught him percussion.  Tracing his ancestry back to the 1800, Rene wrote that his great grandmother was an Apache and his dad is an Aztec. Inspired by a hike to Mount Baden Powell, Rene wrote this poem.

                 INSPIRATION POINT

Home of the humble, and of the meek;

Oceans, wildflowers, deserts are seen,

from atop the highest peak.

An illusion, a fantasy, a dream;

The Lord's creation.

The awe of the wilderness,

Sasquatch, Cheyenne, Manitou vibrations.

Mother Nature murmuring a silent sound;

Eerie impressions of the nocturnal "Big Foot" are found.

From every creature the song of Brahman* is heard.

The howl of the wolf, a fiddling cricket,

The inquisitive statements from a wise old bird;

Even the faint pulsation from the fawn beneath a thicket.

O Great Spirit, Love Fraternal,

You are all in all,

Your breath is Eternal.
